Sales & Marketing Intern

Are you interested in learning more about sales, business management, marketing and product development? How about all this through a leading chemical manufacturing company located just 30 minutes North of Chicago?
Stepan Company is a major manufacturer of basic and intermediate chemicals including surfactants, polymers, as well as specialty ingredients for the food, nutritional and pharmaceutical markets. Our company was founded over 80 years ago and has 19 global manufacturing locations with a support network of over 2000 employees worldwide.
The rotational internship program will introduce you to the following functions:
Business Management (business, product management and marketing)
Commercial Development
Finance
Technical Sales (Inside/Prospecting and Account Management)
Product Development and Technical Service Support
You will learn the various roles and responsibilities of each department and why they are vital to the current success and continued growth of our company. In turn, you will be given a special project assignment in which you will use your skills, systems, tools, and strategies learned in each department to prepare a final research report and presentation to Stepan Management.
Interns are highly encouraged to apply for our Stepan Sales & Marketing Trainee Program or other open positions within the organization upon graduation.
Candidates pursuing a Bachelor's Degree preferably in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with a minor in Business, Economics, Finance, Sales, Management or Marketing.
Strong analytical skills
Solid interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal & written)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including excel and powerpoint
Ability to work independently, as well as in a highly collaborative team environment
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Duration of Assignment: 10-12 weeks



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
