Parks Full-Time Maintenance

Summary: The Regular Full-Time Maintenance Employee is responsible for performing a variety of Park District labor duties. The primary responsibility for the position is the care, upkeep, repair, improvement, routine and preventive maintenance of all Park District properties, facilities and equipment. The position will work in conjunction with all departments and staff in the delivery of quality recreational services to the community of Winnetka. A degree of organization and self-direction is expected to fulfill the needs of the position. The employee will be responsible for onsite communication with Department Heads and managers to ensure timely maintenance and repairs. This position will report directly to the Parks Operations Manager. The position is Full Time with benefits that requires twenty-four hour on call coverage with time commitments beyond forty hours a week due to the emergency responses and adverse weather conditions.
Qualifications: High School Graduate/GED with two years of experience in Parks Maintenance or relates field is required. Bachelor's/Associate's degree in Construction Management, Parks/Recreation, Business Management, or other related field is desired. The applicant should have a working knowledge or experience in grounds maintenance, basic facility maintenance and basic supervision skills as well. Construction trade skills in Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, and/or carpentry are preferred. A commitment for continued skill development and training is mandatory. This position requires a pre-placement physical, driving abstract and criminal background check prior to employment.
Required License and Certifications:
Illinois Class B CDL License with air brakes endorsement, or the ability to obtain within the first six months of employment.
Illinois Pesticide Applicators License, or the ability to obtain within the first six month of employment. (As requested by the Superintendent of Parks)



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
