To provide support for the art department faculty in maintaining a well-organized working environment for teachers and students.
Provide student support in the photography lab To provide support in ordering, inventory and maintaining of the photo budget.
General
Responsibilities:
This work involves tasks related to the maintenance of the darkroom, photography storage areas, digital photography computer lab, photography equipment and photography classroom.
There is considerable contact with staff and students and some contact with parents and the general public.
This employee must possess organizational skills, exercise initiative and independent judgement, and keep informed of procedures and requirements.
Qualifications:
College photography class experience preferred or experience in the photography field.
Knowledge/Skill/Abilities:
Knowledge of digital and darkroom photography, including experience in making chemical solutions for the darkroom and maintenance of computer lab, printers, scanner Knowledge of safe methods of storing, using and disposing of chemicals.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to high school art photography laboratories.
Knowledge of current office practices and procedures, computers, and additional office equipment.
Ability to organize workflow and work with several individuals.
Physical ability to move around frequently in office area as well as other areas of the building.
Exemplary interpersonal skills and communicate clearly and distinctly in person and over the telephone with staff, students and parents.
Position Expectations:
Traditional Photography Lab Management:
Mixing, setting up and breaking down film and darkroom chemicals each day, monitoring chemical temperature and efficacy throughout the day; Ensuring safe storage, usage and disposal of chemicals; Washing and drying student prints to archival standard after each period; Monitoring student activity throughout the lab, reinforcing safety and darkroom procedures; Hiring, training and supervising student lab assistants, as well as processing their time cards; Digital Photography Lab Management:
Assisting teachers and students with problems relating to 24 classroom computers, software, 6 scanners, 4 computers for print, classroom photocopier, and 7 classroom printers.
Contacting the Help Desk with details of lab issues and following up on Help Desk tickets and relaying the status of problems/fixes to teachers; Completing weekly printer head cleanings and head alignments to maintain print quality; Researching, ordering, and setting up any new digital equipment not under the Help Desk umbrella; Training students and teachers on use of equipment - including large format inkjet printer, and black and white inkjet printer/Quad Tone RIP software, and Laser Printer and scanner software and producing detailed step-by-step instruction sheets for scanning and printing for each of our devices; Making large format digital prints for advanced students and teachers as needed.
Run/sit the Glow Forge laser printer Dual Lab Responsibilities Daily check-in/out of 28 FM10 SLR cameras, 20 Pentax K1000 SL cameras, 50 digital Nikon DSLR cameras.
Maintenance on all cameras, printers, scanners, print dryers.
Maintaining a detailed supply inventory of all digital and film, paper, film chemicals, digital paper, ink, presentation/mounting materials, and other supplies.
Monitoring and restocking darkroom paper, digital paper, and all finishing supplies ahead of each period; Dropping off and picking up equipment for repair, making arrangements with manufacturers, technicians, or specialty repair services as needed; Maintaining organized, clean, and safe working conditions.
Update and maintain MSDS safety information; Working with teachers to establish and reinforce safety procedures, alerting PPS to any potential hazards or abnormalities, and supervising students throughout the all photography labs both during classes and while students drop in to work.
Assisting students with digital and film camera instructions, darkroom issues, matting/presentation, digital software during class when teacher is occupied or when there is a sub; Ordering, inventorying, maintaining, and checking in and out digital and film photography equipment and lighting equipment.
Maintaining contracts for student check-out and follow up when necessary.
Providing one-on-one training on equipment when necessary.
Answering student, staff, and faculty questions outside of class when teacher is unavailable; Assisting with special classroom/darkroom demonstrations.
Business and Financial Departmental Management:
Keep all photo inventory up to date and stocked.
Order when necessary.
CTEI and Perkins grant proposal write-up, vender quotes, order placements, and order follow up, inventory and tracking items.
Monitoring student art kit purchases, calculating and ordering all photo kits, and making the appropriate transfers/payments in and out of our accounts.
Receiving and inventorying donations of equipment and relaying all details to the Assistant to the Superintendent (for tax deduction letters); Communicating with departmental supply/utility vendors in conjunction with New Trier business office.
Specialized Art Projects:
Help department chair with printing and special projects Help department chair organize displays and programs (e.
g.
, gallery displays, community programs, etc.
); Support Art Dept staff with special projects Continues job performance enhancement by participating in professional growth activities.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
