To provide a safe and orderly environment for all staff, students and visitors on campus.
To provide security on exterior school grounds, at the doors, in the hallways and throughout the school buildings during after-school hours.
General
Responsibilities:
This work entails considerable contact with students, staff, parents and other visitors to the school.
This employee works within clearly established systems and procedures and exercises independent judgment in the performance of routine matters.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Experience working with students of high school age.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
Knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of behavior patterns of high school students.
Ability to acquire knowledge of school security rules and to enforce these rules, as trained.
Ability to react to unique and emergency situations and ability to take responsible and appropriate courses of action.
Ability to physically move around throughout the building.
Ability to work in inclement weather, including below freezing temperatures.
Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly in person, in writing and over the telephone.
Position Expectations:
Assists the school administration by promoting good and safe student behavior by:
monitoring visitor access to the school, including registering visitors and providing directions as needed; maintaining a security presence in the student lounge, washrooms, study halls, corridors, and other areas inside and outside of the school buildings; and writing and submitting campus offense reports to security manager as requested.
Assists students, staff and visitors by enforcing safety regulations in parking lots and perimeter streets by:
providing security in parking areas, including monitoring visitors and directing them as needed; supervising students and their activities in parking areas; assisting with traffic and crossing guard duties outdoors after school dismissal; ensuring that rules governing parking areas are enforced; and reporting parking violators to supervisor.
Assists with evening event supervision on campus, including outside pedestrian traffic.
Projects a positive image of the district to parents, students and staff, as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude.
Adheres to all policies and procedures outlined in the New Trier Campus Security Handbook.
Continues job performance enhancement by participating in professional growth activities.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
